宇宙章・完結篇
GF3 is the finale of the original Solnoid war trilogy that opened with Eternal Story in 1986. Both fleets converge on the Sigma Narse system for a mutual-destruction battle with Planet Destroyer weapons. Catty, by GF3 a commanding admiral rather than android crewmember, launches a probe carrying all Solnoid knowledge in the seconds before the Blast Out destroys both civilizations simultaneously. The trilogy ends on extinction. The probe is the in-universe link to the post-trilogy series (Rhea Gall Force, 1989; Earth Chapter, 1989–90): it explains why humans in 2085 have Solnoid-derived weapons technology.
The disc credits 松本義久 (Matsumoto Yoshihisa) as production director and 秋山勝仁 (Akiyama Katsuhito) as SUPERVISOR. Akiyama directed GF1 and GF2 personally. By 1988 he was managing multiple concurrent AIC productions. Matsumoto handled episode-level direction while Akiyama retained creative authority over the franchise. English-language databases credit Akiyama as director across all five main Gall Force entries, collapsing the two roles into one credit line.

The front jacket uses pencil sketch art in sepia tones: five cast members in rough-pencil working style on lighter ground, no color fill. GF1's jacket (00LS4001) was a full-color Sonoda illustration on deep blue-black. GF2's Super Price reissue (CSLW 1266) used a white-ground color portrait. GF3's original 1988 pressing uses a different register for the trilogy's final entry.
The inner gatefold contradicts the cover. Twelve women in full color on deep blue-black, the same ground as GF1's exterior, with the series' consistent hair-color coding: Lufy in gold/green, Catty in purple, the GF3-original cast filling the remaining positions. The production insert continues the rough-pencil register: character art and production notes for the expanded roster in the same working-drawing style as the cover.
PEARL
PEARL was a Nagoya rock band formed in 1987, fronted by vocalist 田村直美 (Tamura Naomi), who performed under the stage name SHO-TA. They took the name from the Janis Joplin album. Their origin was a CBS/Sony Records label audition, which placed them on the same corporate roster as the Gall Force franchise. Their third album, Century Toys (1988), included 「ボトムライン」, which appears in GF3 as the ending theme. The back jacket and obi both credit it: THEME SONG: "BOTTOMLINE" PERFORMED BY PEARL / MUSIC BY SHO-TA, LYRICS BY SHO-TA, ARRANGED BY PEARL. Tamura wrote and composed it.
The CBS/Sony family releasing the OVA and the label releasing PEARL's records were the same entity; the licensing was internal. The band's lineup was already fracturing by the disc's release date. Ōhashi Isao (guitar) departed May 31, 1988, a few months before GF3 appeared in November. Tamura continued through several lineup changes and eventually released solo work under her own name from 1994.

The CBS/Sony LASER VISION DISC COLLECTION catalog included with 90LS4022 is a two-page insert: a condensed thumbnail catalog and a full price-list table (タイトル / アーティスト / 価格 / 品番 / 仕様) covering all SVI releases, with a ガルフォース3 reader questionnaire on the reverse. The anime column by November 1988: ガルフォース (00LS4001, 100min, ¥12,000), ガルフォース2 DESTRUCTION (90LS4009, 50min, ¥9,000), 超獣機神ダンクーガ (96LS84001, 90min, ¥9,600), 獣戦機隊ソングス (70LS84002, ¥7,000), クリスタル・トライアングル (90LS4008, 86min, ¥12,000), アップル・シード (98LS84010, 70min, ¥9,800), and five additional titles. The 60-minute program reached DVD as SVWB-7061 (Sony Pictures Entertainment Japan, March 2001) and has not been remastered since. The DVD uses the full-color gatefold cast portrait as its cover art, the image that in 90LS4022 is the inner spread. The sepia sketch jacket of the original pressing, the production insert with rough-pencil character art for GF3's new cast, and the CBS/Sony catalog documenting the complete SVI anime lineup at November 1988 are specific to this disc.
