The latest evolution of the care mechanic — from one pet to an entire planet

Tamagotchi Paradise ships with a rotary zoom dial on its face. Turn it and the view changes: Tama Space (the cosmos), Tama Field (the planet surface), Tama Care (individual creature interaction), Tama Cell (cellular-level health management). Four magnifications. One device.

This is the first Tamagotchi where you do not raise a pet. You steward a planet.

An "Egg Bang" event creates a world populated with creatures from 12 species types across land, water, and sky ecosystems. Bandai claims over 50,000 possible character variations influenced by environmental conditions and player care. The mechanic scales from macro (planetary weather and resources) through individual creature health down to cellular therapy — literally cleaning cells under a microscope-style zoom.

The creatures can battle or fall in love. The planet evolves. The care obligation expands from "feed one pet" to "maintain a biosphere."

Released July 2025. Winner of the Japan Toy Award 2025 Digital Category Grand Prize. First-week sales exceeded Bandai's internal forecast by 50%. Two colorways at launch: Pink Land and Jade Forest. Requires 2 AAA batteries. Priced at ¥6,578 in Japan, $44.99 in North America.

Paradise also includes a physical dock port for device-to-device connectivity — a deliberate callback to the infrared connections of early 2000s Tamagotchi models. Creatures can visit other players' planets. The social mechanic is built for in-person interaction, not Wi-Fi.

The zoom dial is the design statement. Previous Tamagotchi devices asked: "How is your pet?" Paradise asks: "How is your world?" The scale change is not cosmetic. It represents 29 years of a single question getting bigger — from "can you care for one thing?" to "can you care for everything?"

The pet that taught a generation about responsibility is now teaching about ecosystems.
