MADOX-01 — The Blueprint Strip on the Front Cover and the Insert That Documents the Machine

Single LaserDisc release of the 1987 OVA メタルスキンパニック MADOX-01 (G98F0233, Pony Canyon, January 21, 1988). ¥6,800. Runtime approximately 43 minutes. CLV. Digital stereo audio. Includes a production insert with full mecha schematics, staff biographies, and cast credits.

A 1988 OVA LaserDisc that treats the mecha hardware as the primary subject — blueprint schematic strip on the front cover, full technical documentation in the insert — at Shinji Aramaki's directorial debut.

Back cover — episode stills, synopsis, and two technical diagram boxes: SLAVE-TROOPER ST-00 and MADOX-01 in orthographic schematic. Pony Canyon logo lower right. Staff and cast credits in column. The front cover of G98F0233 runs a vertical strip of blueprint schematics down its left third — MADOX-01 in orthographic line drawing, the suit as engineering object before it's a story object. The same logic governs the insert: staff list, cast list, production notes, and then the full mecha documentation for both suits in the OVA.

Shinji Aramaki directed, designed the mechanical hardware, and wrote the original concept. The packaging reflects the production's orientation: the machine is the point, the characters are the people it happens to. The back cover gives the SLAVE-TROOPER ST-00 its own diagram box alongside MADOX-01, treating the antagonist hardware with the same documentation respect as the protagonist suit.

The insert was not included in the 1988 VHS or Beta releases. It is not in the 2003 Toshiba DVD. AnimEigo's 1993 US LD paired MADOX-01 with Riding Bean on a single double-feature disc — a different object entirely, without this documentation layer.
